second place, epic metals competition.
The Boreal Lodge, a hiker cabin, situated in the Laurel Highland's of Western Pennsylvania, was our entry for Epic Metal's four day long competition. The cabin makes use of Epic Metal's flexible and light-weight decking entertaining the ability for it to gently suggest the directional qualities of the space toward the sky for star-gazing. The assembly sequence involves modular pieces, enabling the opportunity for the cabin to relocate easily. SIx beds are provided, intentionally positioned to look up above towards the night sky. The beds take on a special relationship with the bending motion of the cabin. The decking is attached to an external frame to provide a uninterrupted articulation of the interior space.
